Pictures One of my hobbies is taking
pictures. I've put some pictures online of trips to Antarctica,
Australia, the US, the Middle East, La Reunion, and
Europe.

Geology
I am a geologist so you will some
stuff about rocks on my web site. I completed my PhD in 2003, at
Utrecht University (The Netherlands), on the Archaean tectonics of
the Pilbara Craton in Western Australia. Very interesting if you
like old rocks and dusty bush. There are some pictures of Australia
in the picture gallery. I am currently employed as a structural
geologist by Shell in Rijswijk.

Antarctica In 1996 the UN and therefore also
UNESCO celebrated their 50th anniversary. Somebody decided that it
was a good idea to send 35 young people to the Antarctic to
celebrate that. I was one of them to represent the Netherlands and
it was a very enjoyable trip. You will find some info about the
Antarctic Treaty on my web site, and some stuff about wildlife and
human impact. And of course some of my pictures.

Beintema genealogy, I have a little bit of background about my
family name, and some bits and pieces of history. I intend to put a
lot more effort in but you know how that goes....
